Strike HOPE (“Strike HOPE,” “we,” “us”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 85-3806230) based in Oregon City, Oregon. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through strikehope.org and our programs, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Applications for assistance
When a parent or guardian applies for assistance, we collect the information on the application, which may include the parent or guardian’s name, email, phone number and mailing address; the student’s name, age or grade and type of schooling; and household income information and income documentation used to confirm eligibility. Our application form is provided through Google Forms, so information you submit is also processed and stored by Google under Google’s Privacy Policy.
Donations
Online donations are processed by third-party services, including PayPal Giving Fund, Venmo and Zeffy. We do not receive or store your full card or bank account numbers. These services may share your name, email address, donation amount and date with us so we can thank you and send receipts. If you mail a check, we keep the information printed on it and any email address you provide for receipts.
Volunteers and contact forms
When you sign up to volunteer or contact us, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email, phone number, availability, skills and message.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we use cookies and similar tools, including Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager and MonsterInsights) and Jetpack site statistics, to understand how visitors use the site, such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type. We also use spam-protection services that may process information submitted in forms. You can manage cookie preferences using the cookie banner on our site or your browser settings.
How we use information
- To review applications, determine eligibility, and provide Chromebooks, tutoring and other support.
- To process donations, send receipts and thank donors.
- To coordinate volunteers, including matching tutors with students.
- To respond to questions and communicate about our programs.
- To maintain, secure and improve our website.
- To meet legal, accounting and reporting obligations.
We do not sell or rent personal information.
How we share information
We share information only as needed to run our programs: with our Board of Directors and approved volunteers who review applications or provide tutoring; with service providers who help us operate (such as Google, payment processors and our website host); and when required by law. We may share stories or testimonials publicly only with permission, and we do not publish a child’s full name or identifying details without a parent’s consent.
Children’s privacy
Our programs serve K-12 students, but applications must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through this website. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention and security
We keep application, donor and volunteer records only as long as needed for the purposes above and for our legal and accounting obligations. Income documentation is used only to confirm eligibility. We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices
You may ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop sending you emails, by contacting us at the address below. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in the message.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it was last changed.
