Bridging the Gap for Students Learning Outside the Box
Empowering children in nontraditional education with the tools, tutoring, and support they need to thrive.
Our Mission
Strike HOPE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that gives free Chromebooks and free one-on-one volunteer tutoring to K-12 students from low-income families who learn outside the public school system, whether at home, online, or in a private program. We serve families anywhere in the United States.
Who We Serve
More families than ever are choosing homeschool, virtual school, and other nontraditional paths. For a family living on a tight budget, that choice can come with a hard gap: no reliable computer for online lessons, or no one to turn to when a child falls behind in reading or math.
We help close that gap for:
- Students in kindergarten through 12th grade
- Who learn at home, online, or in a private or alternative program
- Whose household income falls within national poverty guidelines
- Anywhere in the U.S.
How It Works

Apply
A parent or guardian fills out our free online application, one per child, with proof of household income.

Board review
Our volunteer Board of Directors reviews every application each month.

Support arrives
Approved families receive a Chromebook shipped directly to their home, a matched volunteer tutor, or both.

We stay in touch
Tutors meet with students weekly over Google Meet, and families can reach us anytime by email at hope@strikehope.org or by call or text at (971) 301-4404.
For parents teaching at home: our free Hope for Parents coaching video offers practical guidance for facilitating your child's learning. We're also recruiting volunteers to offer one-on-one parent coaching.
Our Impact So Far
Since 2020, Strike HOPE has sent Chromebooks to more than 20 families and matched about 10 students with a volunteer tutor. We are a small, fully virtual, volunteer-run organization, so every dollar goes further. Our board approves all spending, and we only commit to what current donations can cover.
Why It Matters
A child's education shouldn't depend on whether their family can afford a laptop or a tutor. When a student has the right tool and someone in their corner, learning at home becomes something they can succeed at, not just get through.
