How Our Tutoring Program Works
Strike HOPE's tutoring program pairs a student with one vetted volunteer tutor for about six weeks of free, one-on-one help.
- Who tutors. Every tutor is interviewed and screened before working with a student. Our volunteers include a former school principal, a reading and math tutor experienced with neurodivergent learners, and other educators.
- Where it happens. Sessions run on Google Meet inside Strike HOPE's secure Google Workspace.
- How often. The tutor sets a regular weekly time with the parent. Sessions last 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the student's needs and the tutor's availability.
- What it covers. Tutors focus on the subjects where the student needs the most help.
Tutoring is free to families. The 40% of our budget that supports tutoring covers training and supporting volunteers and providing the online platform they use.
Fund Allocation
Strike HOPE does not sell any products or services. All of our income comes from individual donations and grants, and every dollar is used for our mission:
- Chromebooks & learning materials (50%): purchasing devices and supplies for eligible K-12 students in homeschool, private, or online education.
- Tutoring program (40%): training and supporting our volunteer tutors and providing the online platform and materials they use with students. Tutoring is free to families.
- Program operations (10%): essential costs such as insurance, accounting, and this website.
Our volunteer Board of Directors reviews applications and approves all spending monthly. Financial details are available on our Candid profile.
